About

There have been two great loves in my life – the color purple and baking.  (My fiance may be the third but he’s only been around for a few years and the others have been here for 25+.  It’s just too soon to tell with him ; )  My mother swears I have loved purple from the time I could only call it “urul” and the pictures below say the rest about baking.

Around 2004 or 2005 KitchenAid came out with a lavender mixer.  It was part of a spring collection, released just in time for Easter.  As some of you may recall, up until then KitchenAid had not introduced many colors outside of the standard red, yellow, green, and blue.  I knew I had to have that mixer.  I mean, what if they never made another in a shade of purple?  I imagined sales of such a color wouldn’t be great and that wouldn’t bode well for future models.  But being a poor college student, I didn’t have the extra funds to buy it on my own.

I begged and pleaded with my mother to buy me the mixer but the line came and went from Williams-Sonoma and I never received my purple mixer.  I couldn’t believe my mom didn’t understand why I needed that mixer.  It was meant to be.  Purple + Baking = Sarah.  She claimed I would grow tired of the color and I assumed she put it out of mind.

I assumed wrong.

On my 20th birthday, I unwrapped an unexpectedly large and heavy box.  Inside was The Purple Mixer.  Since then, my love and passion for baking and cooking have only grown.

I started this blog a couple of years ago as a way to share my recipes with friends and family.  I hope you enjoy these recipes as much as I enjoy making them!

Sarah, I am so proud of you! I love this picture of you at Grandma’s. So many cooking and baking memories made in that very kitchen. All the pictures I have of us growing up and on family vacations, you are wearing purple and me in a matching pink outfit (always a little jealous because my favorite color was purple too, but everyone knew my passion has always been pink!) I love you and miss you!

PS: Still holding out for my hot pink Kitchen Aid Mixer, mom said the same thing as Aunt Ginger!

Sarah…I noticed that you are able to add a pintrest icon on your recipes so that people can easily pin your items…They are all so yummy, I think this would be a way to spread the blog.

I Googled ” lavender KitchenAid mixer and your blog popped up. LOL
I too have one of the coveted lavender mixers thanks to mom and dad. My husband and I took our parents to lunch for their wedding anniversary. Right next door was a William Sonoma which had just begun to carry the pink and purple. My dad insisted on buying it for us, which was so cute, since I can’t remember ever shopping with him EVER, and I was like 41 years old at the time. The year was 2004. It was my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and they bought US a gift. Dad passed away a few years ago, but whenever I look at my lavender mixer, I always think of him!
